Constitutional Provisions

In accordance with Articles 149 and 151 of the Constitution of India read with Section 11 of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (Duties, Powers & Conditions of Service) Act, 1971, the Accountant General (Accounts & Entitlements) Tamil Nadu is responsible for compilation and preparation of the accounts of Government of Tamil Nadu.

Accountant General

   Shri. D. Jaisankar, IA&AS has taken over charge on 4th June 2018 as Accountant General (A&E) of Tamil Nadu.  He belongs to Indian Audit and Accounts Service, 2000 batch.  He has done Post Graduate in Agricultural Sciences from Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore.  He started his career as Scientist in ICAR in 1996 and joined the Indian Audit & Accounts Department thereafter.  He had served in various capacities under the Comptroller & Auditor General of India and Government of India for the past twenty years covering wide range of fields like audit of Defence Sector, Defence Production Sector, State Finance, Expenditure and Revenue, Local Bodies and Autonomous Bodies, State Public Sector Undertakings, Emigration Service and Overseas Indian Affairs.  He is also a Graduate of Defence Services Staff College (DSSC), Wellington and a Global Fellow of Goldman School of Public Policy, University of California, Berkeley, USA.  He has been on foreign assignments for Audit of UN Bodies in the recent past.  Before joining this office he was serving as the Accountant General (Audit), Manipur.
